About the WPCS seed round:
Amsterdam startup WPCS launched the world’s first multi-tenant WordPress cloud platform, enabling anyone to build, manage, and sell WordPress products at scale. The first to solve all three scaling challenges of WordPress simultaneously, WPCS’ no-code platform enables anyone to rapidly scale a Website as a Service or WordPress-based SaaS.
“We originally started building WPCS to scratch our own itch,” says CEO and co-founder Wijnand van Leeuwen. “Along the way, we noticed that we were solving the scaling problems that a lot of agencies and SaaS companies face, in a way that nobody had done before. That’s when we realized we were not just building a tool, but a startup. During the lockdown, it became clear how great the need for a unique service like ours was. Everyone wanted a website to present themselves digitally.”
“APX helped us develop WPCS from a product into a startup,” says Roger Rosweide, co-founder and CCO. “We needed a trusted partner to help us make the shift and prepare us for the startup and venture landscape. APX is that partner, we’re very happy to have them on board.”
Already in December 2021, WPCS announced a substantial seed investment by Arches Capital. Based in Amsterdam, Arches Capital is a fast-growing group of business angels that invests in start-up and scale-up companies with large growth potential.
Henric Hungerhoff, Managing Director at APX, comments: “APX invested in WPCS because we strongly believe in the team and their product. WPCS is building a unique product creating a completely new way of working with WordPress that combines SaaS structures with the opportunities for WaaS businesses, and we are proud to be their partners on this venture.”
APX is an earliest-stage VC. Based in Berlin and backed by Axel Springer and Porsche, APX supports and partners with the most ambitious pre-seed startups from Europe and beyond often as their first investor. Since 2018, APX has invested in 120+ startups across 20+ industries with founders from 20+ countries together with 100+ co-investors. Find out more on APX.vc.
